Kathmag/Kathmag Pro


There are two ways to installKathmag/Kathmag Pro theme. You can either install the theme using WordPress Theme Installer (Recommended) or you can do it via FTP.

Method One(Recommended) : Install Using the WordPress Theme Installer

  1. Log into your website's admin panel. Once logged in, you'll see your dashboard.
  2. Go to Appearance > Themes.
  3. Click on the Add New button.
  4. Click on Upload Theme button.
  5. Click on Choose File button. Locate and select the zipped theme file.
  6. Click on Install Now button.

Method Two: Install Using File Transfer Protocol (FTP)

  1. Unzip the theme file on your computer.
  2. Log into you web server using FTP Client application.
  3. Locate the wp-content folder in your WordPress installed folder.
  4. Upload the un-zipped theme file folder into the: wp-content/themes folder.

Activate the theme

  1. Once theme is installed, Click on theme.
  2. Then click on Activate button. Once done your theme will be activated.

To install a plugin in your WordPress admin panel and follow the following steps.

Plugin Installing Method

  1. Log into your WordPress site and opens the Administration Panel.
  2. Click Navigate to Plugins > Add New in the WordPress Dashboard.
  3. Search for the name of the plugin you wish to install which will return a list of potential plugins.
  4. Click Details to read more about a plugin.
  5. Click “Install Now” if you wish to install the plugin.
  6. It may ask if you are sure, and you may proceed. The installation will commence once you confirm to proceed.
  7. After the plugin is downloaded. Go to Plugins>Installed Plugins. Click “Activate Plugin” to make it available for use.

Recommended Plugins : We recommend you to download the following plugins when necessary:

  1. Jetpack by WordPress.com, by: Automatic (The plugin provides a variety of complementary features for your Theme.)
  2. Regenerate Thumnails by Alex Mills (Viper007Bond) (If you have existing content, this will help you update your image thumbnails sizes.)
  3. Woocommerce by Automattic (This plugin will help you set up your online shop. )

By default your Blog Page will be enabled but not the Front Page. Front Page should be done manually.

Enable Front Page

  1. Log into your admin panel. Then you'll see your dashboard.
  2. Go to Appearance > Customize > Front Page Options > Front Page.
  3. Check on Enable Front Page. Once done, your front page be activated.
  4. Click on Publish button to save the setting.

Note : Remember that Kathmag/Kathmag Pro theme is fully base on customizer so first configure homepage.

Configuration Detail For Ticker News

  1. Log into your admin panel. Then you'll see your dashboard.
  2. Go to Appearance > Customize > Front Page Options > Ticker News.
  3. There you'll find following optons:
    • Show Ticker News

      On checking the checkbox, ticker news will be displayed on Front Page.

    • Ticker News Block Title

      This option lets you set the title for ticker news block.

    • Ticker News Categories

      This option lets you select post categories which is displayed in ticker news block.

    • Number of Ticker News

      This option lets you set the number of items that is to be displayed in ticker news block.

    • Show Ticker In Blog Page

      This option lets you display ticker news block in Blog Page.

  4. Click on Publish button to save the setting.

  1. Log into your admin panel. Then you'll see your dashboard.
  2. Go to Appearance > Customize > Front Page Options > Top Section.
  3. There you'll see the following options.
    • Show Top In Blog Page

      This option allows you to display top section in the Blog Page.

    • Top Section Elements

      Here you can select top elements for your top section. There are total 13 top elements for top section. You can set title, select category/categories, select top element, set number of posts that should be displayed in that block element and enable or disable the top element. You can also add new top element by clicking on Add News Block button.

      The top elements are as follow:

      • News Block 1

        This news block does not need title to be set. Category/Categories can be selected and number of items can be set. At the front end the block looks as following:

      • News Block 2

        This news block does not need title to be set. Category/Categories can be selected and number of items can be set. At the front end the block looks as following:

      • News Block 3

        This news block does not need title to be set. Category/Categories can be selected and number of items can be set. At the front end the block looks as following:

      • News Block 4

        This news block does not need title to be set. Category/Categories can be selected and number of items can be set. At the front end the block looks as following:

      • News Block 5

        This news block does not need title to be set. Category/Categories can be selected. Instead of number of item, set number of items to be displayed in slider. Rest of the 4 items will be automatically added. At the front end the block looks as following:

      • News Block 6 (Pro)

        Set title for this news block. Category/Categories can be selected and number of items can be set. At the front end the block looks as following:

      • News Block 7 (Pro)

        Set title for this news block. Category/Categories can be selected and number of items can be set. At the front end the block looks as following:

      • News Block 8 (Pro)

        Set title for this news block. Category/Categories can be selected and number of items can be set. At the front end the block looks as following:

      • News Block 9 (Pro)

        Set title for this news block. Category/Categories can be selected and number of items can be set. At the front end the block looks as following:

        This news block has three columns. Each columns are separate. So set title and select category for each column. Number of items will be same for each columns. At the front end the block looks as following:

        Set title for this news block. Category/Categories can be selected and number of items can be set. At the front end the block looks as following:

  4. Click on Publish button to save the setting.

Note : Remember that Kathmag/Kathmag Pro theme is fully base on customizer so first configure homepage.

  2. Go to Appearance > Customize > Front Page Options > Middle Section Right Sidebar/Middle Section Left Sidebar.
  3. There you'll see the an option, Middle Section Elements.

    Here you can select news block elements for your middle section. There are total 11 block elements for middle section. You can set title, select category/categories, select news block element, set number of posts that should be displayed in that block element and enable or disable the news block element. You can also add new news block element by clicking on Add News Block button.

    The middle elements are as follow:

    • News Block 1

      Set title for this news block. Category/Categories can be selected and number of items can be set. At the front end the block looks as following:

    • News Block 2

      Set title for this news block. Category/Categories can be selected and number of items can be set. At the front end the block looks as following:

    • News Block 3

      Set title for this news block. Category/Categories can be selected and number of items can be set. At the front end the block looks as following:

    • News Block 4

      Set title for this news block. Category/Categories can be selected and number of items can be set. At the front end the block looks as following:

    • News Block 5

      Set title for this news block. Category/Categories can be selected and number of items can be set. At the front end the block looks as following:

      This news block has two columns. Each columns are separate. So set title and select category for each column. Number of items will be same for each columns. At the front end the block looks as following:

      Set title for this news block. Category/Categories can be selected and number of items can be set. At the front end the block looks as following:

    • News Block 11

      Set title for this news block. Category/Categories can be selected and number of items can be set. At the front end the block looks as following:

  4. Click on Publish button to save the setting.

  1. Log into your admin panel. Then you'll see your dashboard.
  2. Go to Appearance > Customize > Front Page Options > Top Section.
  3. There you'll see the following options.
    • Bottom Section Elements

      Here you can select top elements for your top section. There are total 13 top elements for top section. You can set title, select category/categories, select top element, set number of posts that should be displayed in that block element and enable or disable the top element. You can also add new top element by clicking on Add News Block button.

  4. Click on Publish button to save the setting.

  1. Go to Appearance > Customize > Site Identity.
  2. Click on Select logo button to upload your site's logo.
  3. Set title of your site from Site Title.
  4. Set description of your site from Tagline.
  5. To show Site Title and Tagline on your site, check on Display Site Title and Tagline.
  6. To set Site Icon or Favicon, click on Select Image button. Then upload your site's favicon.
  7. Click on Publish to save the settings.

  1. Go to Appearance > Customize > Advance Color > Options > Theme Color.
  2. There you'll see two options.
    • Primary Color One

      This option lets you to set first primary color.

    • Primary Color Two

      This option lets you to set second primary color.

  3. Click on Publish to save the settings.

  1. Go to Appearance > Customize > Advance Color > Options > Menu Color.
  2. There you'll see two options.
    • Menu Font

      This option lets you to set font color of menu.

    • Menu Font - Hover

      This option lets you to set hover color font of menu.

  3. Click on Publish to save the settings.

  1. Go to Appearance > Customize > Advance Color > Options > Color Color.
  2. Check on Reset Colors to reset the color of the site.
  3. Click on Publish to save the settings.

  1. Go to Appearance > Customize > Theme Options > Site Layout.
  2. Set the layout option to either to fullwidth or boxed.
  3. Click on Publish to save the settings.

  1. Go to Appearance > Customize > Theme Options > Blog Post.
  2. There you'll find following options:
    • Blog Layout

      There are three blog layouts, Two Columns List Layout, Grid Layout and Masonry Layout. Select any one of the layout.

    • Sidebar Position

      There are three sidebar positions, Left, Right and None. Select any one of the sidebar position.

  3. Click on Publish to save the settings.

  1. Go to Appearance > Customize > Theme Options > Archive Post.
  2. There you'll find following options:
    • Archive Layout

      There are three archive layouts, Two Columns List Layout, Grid Layout and Masonry Layout. Select any one of the layout.

    • Sidebar Position

      There are three sidebar positions, Left, Right and None. Select any one of the sidebar position.

  3. Click on Publish to save the settings.

  1. Go to Appearance > Customize > Theme Options > Single Post.
  2. There you'll find following options:
    • Show Post Tags

      This option lets you to show or hide post tags. The post tags are post categories and post tags. These are displayed below the content of the post.

    • Enable Related Post Block

      This option lets you to show or hide related posts.

    • Related Post Layout

      There are two layouts for displaying related posts. One slider layout and grid layout. Select any one of the layouts.

    • Related Posts Block Title

      Set title for related posts block.

    • Number of Related Posts

      Set the number of related posts that you want to displayed.

    • Enable Voting

      This option lets you either enable or disable like and dislike option of posts.

    • Vote Up Text

      This option lets you set the text for like button.

    • Vote Down Text

      This option lets you set the text for dislike button.

    • Enable Social Share

      This option lets you enable or disable share posts via social links.

    • Enable Author Info

      This option lets you display or hide information of author related to the post.

    • Enable Comments

      This option lets you display or hide comment section from the post.

  3. Click on Publish to save the settings.

  1. Go to Appearance > Customize > Theme Options > Meta.
  2. Here you'll find options to either enable or disable different post metas such as post date, post author, comment number etc.
  3. Click on Publish to save the settings.

  1. Go to Appearance > Customize > Theme Options > Miscellaneous.
  2. Here you'll find option to set the excerpt length of the posts.
  3. Click on Publish to save the settings.

  1. Go to Appearance > Customize > Header Image.
  2. Header is used as background image of header. If you want background in the header, set header image.
  3. Click on Publish to save the settings.

  1. To set background color. Go to Appearance > Customize > Colors. Then set the background color.
  2. To se background image. Go to Appearance > Customize > Background Image Then set the background image.
  3. Click on Publish to save the settings.

  1. To set background color. Go to Appearance > Customize > Colors. Then set the site's color using option Header Text Color.
  2. Click on Publish to save the settings.

  1. Go to Appearance > Menus.
  2. If there are no menu created then create one. Click on create new menu, set name of the menu, add menu items, which can be either page, post, category, custom link, etc., set the location of the menu. Then click on Save Menu button.

  1. If you want to add new post, Go to Posts > Add New. If you want to update existing post, Go to Posts > All Posts, then select the post that you want to update.
  2. Set Title of the post.
  3. Write Content of the post.
  4. Set format of the post. If you set, format to Gallery, Video and Audio, then respective options will be enabled to set the post format content.
  5. Set category and tag for the post.
  6. Set featured image.
  7. There are three sidebar positions, Left Sidebar, Right Sidebar and No Sidebar. Select any one sidebar position.
  8. There are three layouts for the post, Standard, Classic, and Full Width. On selecting Standard layout, the featured image or video or gallery images or audio will be displayed row above the post content and sidebar. On selecting Classic layout, the media items will be displayed in same column but above of the post content. On selecting Full width, featured image will be displyed taking the width of the screen and video, audio and gallery will be displayed at in same column but above of the post.
  9. If it is new post, click on Publish button, if not click on Update button.
